Summer Carnival

Summertime in Sicily consists of warm beach weather and pristine waters, which added to the historic and tourist sites make it a top choice for vacationers around the world. It was then decided to bring to life some of the memorable attractions of the winter Carnival.

The floats were brought “back to life” for the occasion to share the stage with local artisans, while the artisans showcase their skills to the public.

The summer Carnival has become a good way to create partnerships with other Italian carnivals. In 2005, for example, the first guest was the Carnevale di Viareggio, which brought a float entitled “Grande Ballerina” (Great Dancer) along with a group of entertainers. The following year the carnival again hosted the friends from Viareggio, and also included representatives from the Putignano Carnival.
